Mark Barron, S Alabama Scouting Report

Mark Barron, S Alabama [HT- 6’2 WT-220 4.55 projected 40]

Positives- Mark has “prototypical” size and speed to play Safety at the next level…He plays better when in Zone Coverage, as he isn’t asked to Man up at Alabama…He keeps his eyes on the Quarterback and makes very quick breaks/cuts towards the ball…He has Above Average straight line speed and field awareness/vision…He is big and strong enough to play in the box and shows the ability to shed blockers and attack the ball carrier…He uses his strength to tackle through the Carrier and finishes the play…Plays the role of Ballhawk and does a good a job player Center Field.

Negatives- Mark consistently struggles with stiff hips and will take late breaks on the ball and will have to rely on his Athleticism to bail him out…He over pursues in the run game and will break containment...He does struggle on occasion to fully wrap up by trying the homerun hit, duck his head, and dive…He was arrested in 2011 and was consistently injured at Alabama (minor/lingering injuries).
