Bernard Pierce, RB Temple Scouting Report

Bernard Pierce, RB Temple [HT- 6’0 WT- 218 4.49 40 Time]

Positives- Bernard possess a well built, athletic frame, with thick legs, and good feet…He shows good power up the middle and flashes better than Above Average field vision…He does a good job of dropping his pad level when he sees contact coming (he will make himself small) and will run through initial contact…Bernard shows enough speed and running ability to challenge the outside edge, while also displaying Above Average balance and footwork to make cuts both with and against the grain…He has good enough hands (to make a catch) and is a willing blocker making him a threat to stay in on third down.

Negatives- Bernard needs to show consistency in his running style as he will get high more often than most other backs…He doesn’t Elite level speed and may be challenged at the next level to hit certain lanes and edges…He will get too patient behind the line, causing him to lose yardage more than one would like to see…He does need to work on his blocking technique and blocking IQ, as he will miss or not pick up blitzers…Bernard needs to prove his durability issues are behind him, as he hasn’t played an entire season at Temple, but has had more carries than some other backs coming out this year.
