David Wilson, RB Virginia Tech Scouting Report

David Wilson, RB Virginia Tech [HT- 5’10 WT-206 4.49 40 time]

Positives- David is a thickly built Back from Virginia Tech…He is a patient inside runner who can find open lanes and knows when wait for his blockers (he needs to work on trusting his instincts and run inside more often, not asked to at VT often)…When he runs low, he is difficult to bring down with initial contact…He prefers and runs better to the outside where he van make plays with his size/speed ratio, as well as Above Average agility…He flashes (need to see more) natural balance and shows an Above Average ability to juke and elude defenders…David has enough power and runs low enough to run through defenders, while also showing good agility to avoid them/cause them to take poor angles and miss…He shows solid hands in the pass game and is a natural out of backfield threat…David is a naturally improving pass defender and has showed an increased ability to improve every year.

Negatives- David is an indecisive running on the inside, he tries to be too patient and will go East/West too many times (results in an increase in negative plays)…He needs to show improvement on his pass blocking ability to prove he is a 3 down back…He does have only average ball carry vision and will struggle to find the open lanes up the middle…Needs to show consistent pad level when he hits the open field…David needs to learn to secure the ball consistently, as he displays poor ball placement.
