Ryan Tannehill, QB Texas A&M [HT- 6’4 WT-221 4.65 40 time]
Positives- Ryan is a former Receiver turned Quarterback…He has good size and speed for a player of his position…Ryan possess an arm capable making all the throws at the next level…He can throw sideline to sideline with borderline Elite level velocity…Ryan has good accuracy in the short to intermediate passing game, where he can get the ball there/out quickly, while throwing through tight windows…He has shown a better than average deep ball and is capable of going deep/over the middle (accuracy, not arm strength is the issue)…With his height, he makes ease out of reading and recognizing defenses (looking over the line)…He possess a high football IQ and knows how to go over film, breaking down defenses/schemes (easier than most)…He has a good pump fake and play action sell…He knows how to look off and throw Receivers open, while maintaining proper balance and footwork…Ryan has good mobility and throws better than other Quarterbacks this year while on the run…Does a good job of stepping up and into the throw (and setting feet) before releasing.
Negatives- Ryan has a limited number of games a starting Quarterback and is still raw in most aspects…He has inconsistent feet and throwing motion…He will get “happy feet” and will bail out/make poor throws before the pressure gets to him…He has a tendency to overthrow the middle and crossing routes…He also floats and will under throw deep routes…He needs to learn to be patient and not force the ball into tight windows, also needs to not tuck and run as often…Durability may an issue as he has had lingering injuries throughout his career.
