Ben Jones, C/G Georgia [HT- 6’3 WT- 320]
Positives- Ben is a big, mauling Center (could swing to Guard due to size and natural ability) who is quick off the snap and does a very good job of moving the defender, either blowing him out of the play or taking him to the ground…Very athletic for a guy his size and is above average in space (knows when and who to make the play on)…Ben is able to snap and rise to his stance quickly, which helps him anchor the middle of the pocket…Better in pass protection, he is quick to block/deflect the power moves and can set the pocket.
Negatives- Ben isn’t overly strong, and can get pushed around at the point of attack against bigger and stronger tackles…He is limited on what moves/techniques he can use (rarely asked to pull and trap)…he will lunge in the run game, which gets him off balance more often than not…Struggles with hand placement and stance (in the run game) and will be pushed around/swam past…Needs more “snap” (punch) in the pass game, but strong enough to be effective.
