Janoris Jenkins, CB North Alabama [HT- 5’10 WT- 195 4.47 projected 40]
Positives- Janoris is as close to a shut down type of Corner that will come out of this draft…He can read, react, and bait the Quarterback to make poor throws..He has a low (and stays low), quick, and consistent backpedal, which he uses to mirror the Receiver…He has naturally fluid hips and can change pace/direction better than most other Corners…He is a gambler, by nature with Elite level closing speed and times his jumps for the high-point, making him a natural ballhawk…Plays in Zone well and knows where his help (Safety) is and where the route is going…He is a willing run defender who will mix it up with any size back and attack for a sure tackle.
Negatives- Janoris is a gambler and takes a lot more risks then one would like to see (and some that don’t need to be taken)…Due to his size, he does struggle against bigger (bodied) Receivers…Needs to add muscle/mass to his frame…He also needs to improve the consistency in his tackling technique/mechanics…He does have a troubled past, being removed from the Florida team due to multiple issues with Marijuana and resisting arrest.
